Love Well Live Well with Essential Oils
Did you know essential oils can have a powerful impact on your self-care and wellbeing?
I had no idea…until I did.
I love this Maya Angelou quote as a motto for life and especially wellness. We are constantly learning new information and thus given the opportunity to evolve.
The key is being ready. Ready to receive the information and then ready to incorporate it into your life.
I first tried out essential oils when I started learning about the harmful effect of chemicals in our products in 2012. I made small changes to live a cleaner life.
I switched out dryer sheets for a piece of an old t-shirt with a few drops of orange essential oil.
I made homemade sugar scrub with lavender for Christmas gifts.
I used melaleuca (tea tree) oil when our family was hit with lice.
Then in 2013 we moved from Indiana to Boston, things seemed very overwhelming and the essential oils got lost in the shuffle.
Fast forward over 3 years and essential oils came back into my life. Being a holistic health coach, I had been asked about essential oils. I was ready to learn, but kept moving it to the bottom of my {always long!} to-do list. Honestly, I was also a little skeptical of their benefits.
Scrolling through Instagram one day, I found this wonderful local company, Light and Lotus, that sells meaningful jewelry. (I’m a sucker for this type of thing!) I followed the account and immediately received an email from Jess about essential oils. Coincidence? Or just affirmation that when you are ready and open, things just fall into place!
“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
I was re-introduced to essential oils, this time the right way. Starting with finding the answer to…
“What is an Essential Oil?”
If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a rose, you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants.
Essential oils provide plants with protection against environmental threats and play a role in plant pollination. In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices.
How Do I Use Essential Oils?
Beyond the three things I mentioned above, I really didn’t have any idea how to use essential oils! Come to find out they are used for a very wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications.
They can be used a single oil at a time or in complex blends in one of three methods:
Aromatic
Certain essential oils, when diffused, can be very stimulating, while others can be calming and soothing. Diffusing essential oils can also cleanse and purify the air of unwanted odors.
Topical
Essential oils are easily absorbed by the skin and can be safely applied topically.
Internal
Certain essential oils have a rich culinary history and can be used as dietary supplements for targeted wellness.
Whether you have an upset stomach, headache, itchy skin, crazy hormones, asthma, trouble sleeping, stress/anxiety or want a boost to your immune system…there is an oil to help.
If you want to feel grounded, peaceful, joyful, inspired, self-compassionate, loving, motivated, forgiving, relaxed, energized, focused, or any other positive emotion…there is an oil for you!
The positive uses are limitless!
I was so impressed with the vast benefits and uses (physically and emotionally), I joined Jess and an amazing team of wellness advocates to share these natural plant healers. Essential oils are the perfect complement to wellness and making positive changes in your life!

- Pure and natural, with aromatic compounds carefully extracted from plants
- Free from fillers or artificial ingredients; no dilution of active qualities
- Free of contaminants, pesticides, or chemical residues
- Rigorously tested for standards of chemical composition
- Cross tested using mass spectrometry and gas chromatography to ensure exact purity and composition potency
